Abstract:

Objective To explore the value of high⁃resolution musculoskeletal ultrasound(MSUS)gray⁃ scale(GS)in judging the chronic Achilles tendinitis(CAT)and to find the association between potential clinical risk factors and CAT. Methods A total of 88 ice and snow athletes with CAT that underwent gray scale ultrasound in our hospital were included in the study. The differences in gray scale ultrasound characteristic between the affected side, the healthy area around the affected side, and the healthy side achilles tendon were compared. Results The average gray scale of the inflammatory area was lower than that of the Achilles tendon in the healthy area(either ipsilateral or contralateral)(P < 0.05). However, there was no significant difference between healthy areas around inflammatory areas and contralateral healthy areas(P > 0.05). Multivariate logistic analysis revealed that age (> 30 years),training time(> 5 years),and achilles tendon tension test were significantly associated with the decrease of average gray scale and max gray scale of inflammatory area. Conclusion Gray scale ultrasound has certain application value in the diagnosis of CAT when combined with clinical data.
