Abstract:

Objective To review the experience of enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS)in a tertiary hospital, and to analyze the influence factors of ERAS on treatment outcome of patients. Methods Descriptive analyses of the overall implementation process of ERAS,longitudinal and horizontal comparative analyses of the changes of the average hospitalization days, average hospitalization costs in composition and operative complica⁃ tions of patients before and after the full implementation of ERAS from 2018 to 2019. Results Overall, the average hospitalization days, costs and the incidence of operative complications of patients with ERAS were significantly lower than those before the implementation of ERAS,which were decreased by 0.7 days,1.2% and 41.5%,respec⁃ tively. Among the 12 representative types of operations, compared with non⁃ERAS patients in 2018 and 2019,the hospitalization days of stay, average hospitalization costs, drug costs, consumable materials and the incidence of surgical complications of ERAS patients were significantly lower than those of non ⁃ ERAS patients in 2018 and 2019. Conclusion The promotion of ERAS diagnosis and treatment mode can shorten the hospitalization days of surgical patients, reduce medical expenses and operative complications, and be beneficial to the improvement of economic and social benefits of the hospital.
