Abstract:

Objective To detect the changes of soluble B7-H3 (sB7-H3) and CX3C chemokine receptor 1 (CX3CR1) levels in patients with irreducible pulpitis and explore their prognostic value. Methods A total of 104 patients with irreversible pulpitis involved in the study, including 52 cases of acute pulpitis and 52 cases of chronic pulpitis. According to the treatment results, 83 cases with good prognosis were assigned as one group and 21 cases with poor prognosis as another group. Meanwhile, another 101 healthy individuals who underwent physical examination during the same period were enrolled as the health group. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was applied to detect serum levels of sB7-H3 and CX3CR1. Results The serum levels of sB7-H3 and CX3CR1 in the case group were higher than those in the healthy group (P < 0.05). The serum levels of sB7-H3 and CX3CR1 in the acute pulpitis group were higher than those in the chronic pulpitis group (P < 0.05). The serum levels of sB7-H3 and CX3CR1 in the poor prognosis group before and after treatment were higher than those in the good prognosis group (P < 0.05) and the serum levels of sB7-H3 and CX3CR1 were statistically significant different across different time points, between the groups and in terms of interactions (P < 0.05). The proportion of patients with acute conditions in the poor prognosis group was higher than that in the good prognosis group (P < 0.05). SB7-H3 and CX3CR1 were independent risk factors for the poor prognosis in the patients (P < 0.05). Conclusion The levels of serum sB7-H3 and CX3CR1 in patients with irreversible pulpitis are elevated. They may become important indicators for evaluating the conditions and treatment effectiveness of irreversible pulpitis.
