Abstract:

Colorectal cancer is the most common malignant tumor of the digestive system. The survival rate of patients with the cancer is negatively correlated with the stage of cancer at the time of diagnosis. If it is detected early,up to 90% of deaths can be avoided. So far, many miRNAs have been confirmed to be tumor suppressor genes or oncogenes, which have a good prospect of clinical application. However, the current research is mainly focused on the miRNA of peripheral blood and tissue samples of patients with the cancer, few studies pay attention to the role of fecal miRNAs,and systematically uncover the significance of fecal miRNA in the diagnosis and prog⁃ nostic assessment of the cancer. Therefore, this article reviews the latest research advances in the role of fecal miR⁃ NAs in the diagnosis and prognostic assessment of colorectal cancer, expounding its potential value as a biomarker of colorectal cancer.
