Abstract:

Objective To investigate the effects of early feeding combined with chiropractic therapy on the post⁃laparoscopic recovery of bowel functions of neonates with duodenal obstruction. Methods A total of 120 children with neonatal duodenal obstruction were randomly divided into three groups:the control group(group A),the early feeding group(group B),the chiropractic therapy group(group C),the group treated with early feeding combined with chiropractic therapy(group D). Comparisons were done among the four groups with respect to the recovery of postoperative bowel function, the incidence of postoperative feeding intolerance, the length of hospital stay, and hospitalization costs. Results The recovery of postoperative bowel function was better, the hos⁃ pital stay longer, and hospital cost lower in group D,as compared with the other three groups. The incidences of postoperative feeding intolerance in groups C and D were both lower than in groups A and B,and that in group D was the lowest among all the groups. Conclusion Early feeding combined with chiropractic therapy can promote the recovery of post⁃laparoscopic bowel function, and relieve postoperative feeding intolerance in children with neo⁃ natal duodenal obstruction, which can be promoted in clinical practice.
