Abstract:

Objective To explore the effect of metabolic syndrome and its components on short ⁃term survival of patients with severe trauma after first aid. Methods Patients with severe trauma were divided into metabolic syndrome group and non⁃metabolic syndrome group according to their disease status. Patients with severe trauma combined with metabolic syndrome in metabolic syndrome group and patients without metabolic syndrome in non⁃metabolic syndrome group. The prognosis of patients in metabolic syndrome group and non⁃metabolic syndrome group was compared and analyzed. Results The prevalence rate of metabolic syndrome in patients with severe trauma was 5.09%. The mortality rate of severe trauma patients 3 months after first aid was 7.46%. Body Mass Index ≥ 28（OR = 2.012，P = 0.006）is the only metabolic syndrome component that affects the death of patients. Conclusion Metabolic syndrome will affect the first aid effect and clinical outcome of patients with severe trauma. Obesity is the direct cause of death of trauma patients.
