Abstract:

Objective To investigate the association of daily sleep duration with the risk of hyperuricemia among urban workers in Guangzhou. Methods A convenience sampling method was used to select 9,000 workers who attended physical examination in the health management center of a tertiary hospital in Guangzhou from June 2019 to June 2020. Questionnaires were used to collect data on demographics and lifestyle, and logistic regression was used to analyze the association of daily nap duration with the risk of hyperuricemia. Results The prevalence of hyperuricemia among urban workers in Guangzhou was 42.60%,with 55.60% in males and 22.21% in females. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that after adjusting for demographic data, lifestyle, and metabolic risk factors, the daytime nap duration was associated with the risk of hyperuricemia by gender(P < 0.05). The association was moderately attenuated with additionally adjusted for serum creatinine. No correlation between noc⁃ turnal sleep duration and risk of hyperuricemia was noted. Conclusion Whether male or female, longer daytime nap duration was associated with hyperuricemia risk.
