Clinical effects of iRoot BP plus and mineral trioxide aggregate for apical barrier of permanent teeth in adults

Abstract:

Objective To evaluate the clinical effects of iRoot BP Plus and mineral trioxide aggregate （MTA）for apical barrier of permanent teeth in adults. Methods Ninety ⁃ eight permanent teeth of 62 adults with periapical periodontitis and open apex were randomly divided into two groups with 49 teeth in each group. iRoot BP Plus and MTA were used as root canal sealants in the treatment group and the control group respectively. The clinical effects of the two groups were evaluated and analyzed at month6 ，12 and 24 after operation. Results There was no significant difference between the two groups at month6，12 and 24 after operation，but the operation time of the treatment group was significantly shorter than that of the control group. Conclusion As a root canal sealer for apical barrier surgery，iRoot BP Plus is similar to MTA in clinical efficacy，but better for operation.
