Prognostic value of diffusion ⁃weighted MRI combine with tumor volume for the short ⁃ term treatment response ofnasopharynxin nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Abstract:

Objective To investigate the prognostic value of diffusion⁃weighted（DW）MRI combine tumor volume for the treatment response of nasopharynx in nasopharyngeal carcinoma（NPC）. Methods 94 patientswith NPC were enrolled ，ADC value and tumor volume of nasopharynx was recorded before treatment. Patients were divided into complete remission（CR）group and non CR group according to treatment response，the predic⁃ tive ability of tumor volume and ADC value and their combination was analyzed. Results The pretreated value of ADC，gross tumor volume of nasopharynx（GTVnx）and GTVnx with retropharyngeal lymph nodes（GTVnx+RLN） showed statistical difference between CR group and non CR group. AUC of ADC，GTVnx and GTVnx+RLN were 0.656，0.678 and 0.699 respectively. AUC reached 0.772 when we combined ADC value with GTVnx+RLN. We further incorporated ADC value and GTVnx + RLN by constructing nomogram，C ⁃index were 0.770. Conclusion The combination of pretreated ADC value and GTVnx+RLN can be used to predict the treatment response in NPC.
