Abstract:
Objective Due to fatigue of rescuer, quality of chest compressions(CCs)declines over time. In the present study,we investigated the relationship among the quality of CCs,objective and subjective fatigue in a manikin study of teenagers. Methods Total 130 volunteers aged at 16⁃18 yrs were recruited to participate in this study. After thetraining course and theoretical examination of basic life support,6⁃min of compression ⁃only CPR performance was assessed. The quality of CCs including rate and depth of compression was analyzed. The rescuer fatigue was evaluated by the changes of heart rate(HR)and blood lactate(LAC),and rating of perceived exertion (PRE). Results Total 120 participants completed this study. The decreases in quality of CCs and increases of PRE were observed over time in all participants. Spearman analysis confirmed that PRE was closely negatively with depth of CCs(P < 0.01). Significantly positively relationship were found among PRE and changes in HR and LAC (P < 0.01). Conclusion The quality of CCs declines and fatigue of rescuers increases overtime. PRE significantly negatively correlated with depth of CCs. Closely positive relationship were among PRE,HR and LAC
