Abstract:

Objective To explore the possibility of improving anticancer effect of paclitaxel in VX2 brain tumor in rabbits by ultrasound irradiation mediated by microbubbles. Methods Brain tumor model was established and 20 tumor ⁃bearing rabbits with tumor age of 14 days were randomly assigned to control group(CON),single taxol group(PTX);ultrasound + paclitaxel group(US + PTX);ultrasound + microbubble + paclitaxel group (PTX + MB + US),with different injections and treatments. The tumor volumes in each group were examined by ultrasound before and after the treatment and the volume inhibition rate(TIR)was calculated. The apoptosis of tumor cells in each group was observed under ,and the apoptosis index of tumor cells was calculated. Results The TIR of US + MB + PTX group was higher than that of control group, indicating significant difference(P < 0.05). Conclusion In the case of intravenous infusion of ultrasound contrast agent, diagnostic ultrasound can significantly improve the chemotherapy effect of taxol on rabbit VX2 brain tumor.
