  • Submission Requirements for Medical Research Involving Human Subjects and Ethics-Related Manuscripts of *The Journal of Practical Medicine*

In order to implement the spirit of official documents including *Notice on the Special Governance Work Program for Strengthening Medical Research Integrity* (Guoweiban Kejiao Han [2026] No.19) and *Measures for Ethical Review of Life Science and Medical Research Involving Human Subjects* (Guowei Kejiao Fa [2023] No.4), and to further strengthen research integrity and ethical review, this journal hereby promulgates the following provisions for manuscript submission:

    1. Basic Submission Materials

Manuscript submission must be accompanied by an official letter of introduction from the author's affiliated institution (with the institution's official seal) (click to download the journal's template), which certifies that the manuscript is authentic, does not involve state secrets, has no disputes over authorship, is free from copyright infringement and duplicate submission, and meets other relevant requirements.

    2. Conflict of Interest and Author Contribution Statements

Please state "Conflict of Interest" and "Author Contributions" in English before the reference section of the manuscript. All authors must disclose any potential competing interests; the author contribution statement shall specify each author's specific contributions in research design, data collection, data analysis, manuscript writing and other aspects of the work.

    3. Registration, Filing and Ethical Approval for Medical Research Involving Human Subjects

3.1 Registration and Filing Number. For all medical research papers involving human subjects, relevant research must be completed and filed in the *National Medical Research Registration and Filing Information System* (https://www.medicalresearch.org.cn) prior to submission, and a valid registration number must be obtained. Authors shall standardly label the registration number in the paper (uniformly placed in the "Materials and Methods" section), and indicate the name and website of the system concurrently. This journal will verify the registration number one by one relying on the information inquiry service provided by the filing system. Manuscripts that cannot provide a valid registration number or fail the verification will not be accepted for publication.

3.2 Institutional Review Board Approval and Informed Consent. For clinical trials with human subjects, authors shall specify whether the procedures followed in the research comply with the ethical standards formulated by the responsible institutional, regional or national human experiment committee, and provide the committee's approval document number in the manuscript. It is also necessary to specify whether written informed consent has been obtained from the research subjects or their legal representatives (guardians).

3.3 Clinical Trial Registration Number. Clinical trial manuscripts must also provide the globally unique *Trial registration number* obtained from a primary registration member of the WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP), as well as the name of the registration institution. This registration number shall be uniformly placed in the "Materials and Methods" section (format example: "Trial registration number: ChiCTR200003XXXX").

3.4 Requirements for Animal Experiments. For manuscripts reporting animal experiments, the certification number of experimental animals and the approval number issued by the experimental animal institutional review board must be provided and included in the manuscript (uniformly placed in the "Materials and Methods" section).

    4. Protection of Patient Privacy

If the research involves identifiable patient information (including full name, initials, portrait, hospital admission number, institution name, etc.), such information shall not be disclosed unless it is of great significance for scientific purposes and written evidence of informed consent from the patient (or the patient's parents/guardians) approved by the institutional review board can be provided. Patients have the right to read the manuscript to be published before signing the informed consent form. All personally identifiable information shall be omitted unless it is necessary for the research.

All authors are requested to strictly comply with the above provisions. For submissions that do not meet the above requirements, this journal reserves the right to return the manuscript or reject it for publication.
