Abstract

Sepsis is defined as life⁃threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response toinfection. With complicated pathogenesis and high mortality,it is intractable to treat. Continuous renal replacementtherapy(CRRT)is an umbrella term of long⁃time continuous extracorporeal blood purification which was practicedfor replacing injured kidney function but CRRT has been set for bringing critically ill patients out of danger. Theeffect on improving survival rate of CRRT treating sepsis is embodied in clearing inflammatory mediators andcytokines, improving hemodynamic disorder and protecting organ function. This review focuses on the advantagesand disadvantages of various CRRT treatment modes, related blood filters and membrane materials in the treatmentof sepsis.
