The morbidity and mortality of diabetes have increased rapidly in recent years. The drugs aim⁃ ing to act on new targets to control type 2 diabetes mellitus（T2DM）is not uncommon. At present，12 different types of anti⁃diabetic drugs are available to be used，offering various treatment measures through all aspects of the mechanism of diabetes. As compared with traditional drugs，new hypoglycemic drugs are safer and more effective， and have a protective effect on heart and kidney，delaying the occurrence of diabetic complications. This article reviews the current drugs acting at new targets for the treatment of T2DM in order to provide guidance for clinical treatment of T2DM.
