Progress in the diagnosis of scapulohumeral periarthritis by musculoskeletal ultrasound

Abstract:

Scapulohumeral periarthritis,also known as frozen shoulder or adhesive capsulitis,mainly manifested as a progressive limitation in active and passive activity of shoulders,accompanying by severe pain. This disorder often seriously affects the daily life of patients. At present,magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)is regarded as the gold standard for the diagnosis of scapulohumeral periarthritis by clinicians. In recent years,the development of musculoskeletal ultrasound(MSKUS)has brought a new imaging diagnostic method for patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis. This paper mainly reviews the research progress of musculoskeletal ultrasound in the diagnosis of scapulohumeral periarthritis.
